Mercedes-Benz is a German manufacturer of luxury automobiles, buses, coaches, and trucks. Mercedes-Benz has its origins in Karl Benz’s creation of the first petrol-powered car, the Benz Patent Motorwagen, patented in January 1886. Over the next decade, he made a number of modifications, culminating in the addition of a gas-powered engine from Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach.
Two great rivals, Daimler and Benz, competed till the 1920s when hard times forced their merge. In 1926 a new company, Daimler-Benz AG was established. It was here where Mercedes cars were produced.
Mercedes-Benz AMG became a majority owned division of Mercedes-Benz in 1998. The company was integrated into DaimlerChrysler in 1999, and became Mercedes-Benz AMG beginning on 1 January 1999. AMG is Mercedes-Benz’s in-house performance-tuning division, specialising in high-performance versions of most Mercedes-Benz cars. AMG engines are all hand-built, and each completed engine receives a tag with the signature of the engineer who built it.
Over the years, Mercedes-Benz introduced many innovations to the car industry, mainly in the luxury market. The vehicles are best known for their safety features, which continue to set standards for other car manufacturers. Everything about Mercedes-Benz is high-end, and no other car company can compare to all that Mercedes-Benz has accomplished, if you look at all the luxury cars, trucks, vans, buses, and its part in the motor car world.
