Every 1st of May of the year, we observe Labour Day. But how many of us here know what exactly is this Labour Day?
Actually there are 2 different versions of Labour Day. First is the Labour Day which we and most other countries celebrate Labour Day on 1st of May. The second is a federal holiday for United States, and takes place on the first Monday of September.
Labor Day has been celebrated on the first Monday in September in the United States since the 1880s. The holiday originated in 1882 as the Central Labor Union of New York City sought to create “a day off for the working citizens.” Traditionally, Labor Day is celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer. But today, Labor Day is often regarded as a day of rest and parades.
